What can be more perfect than spending a relaxing Saturday with family and friends in the outdoors, with a chop in the one hand and a drink in the other ? no Bounce, I will not hold your drink?

9th September 2006 - early till late

Come and join us for a ?bring and braai? in the Lion Park near Lanseria Airport north of Johannesburg which serves as a gateway and introduction, a true window, to the splendours of Africa?s Wildlife. The Lion Park is home to more than 70 lions including white lions and many other carnivores such as cheetahs, wild dogs, brown and spotted hyenas, black leopards and many more. Apart from the larger carnivores a variety of plains game species roam freely in the Lion Park's antelope area. An attractive picnic and braai area can accommodated more than 30 people and a children's playground to keep the kids entertained. They also have a restaurant with a fully licensed bar not far from the site and toilet facilities. For a treat, children can view and touch the lion cubs and see other animals, which the park offers, for a fee. As mentioned, this initiative is aimed to not only get together and have fun but to raising funds for TB?s kitty so, a small fee will be charged but I can assure you that this money will go directly to TB to be used for future awareness campaigns and other events. The ?entry fee? has not been decided on yet but I propose that we allow the children 13 years and younger to go in free so as to make the day affordable to those people with large families.

As this is a fundraiser, I would like to ask for donations toward making this event enjoyable for all. We will need the following:

? 3 to 4 salads (this will depend on attendance)
o Shado ? pasta salad

? Bread rolls (might need two people depending on the attendance)

o

? Pap & sous (not sure how you feel about this but most people like it)

? Charcoal (this will depend on attendance)

Please bear in mind that if you put your name down to supply something from the list it will have to be from your own pocket. For those of you that will like to make a cash donation to help cover the cost of the side dishes and things, I am sure that can be arranged.

Just out of curiosity do they allow bikes into the park

I can just picture it - a sprint to the gate after a couple of pints dodging a chargeing lioness

Maybe it would be safer to have this bunch at the bunny park

they did invite us previosly and said the dirt road part is short and in good nic

Don?t worry Dave, I have it on good authority that the lion?s are not very partial to biker?s and avoid them where ever possible?

There does not seem to be much interest but optimistically it will increase as the time comes closer. Most importantly, I think we need to get the letter sent to the Lion Park so that we can get written confirmation for the use of the venue. No use running around planning everything and end up using the side of the road because the authorisation was given by the wrong secretary.

I was hoping to bash some ideas around with the ladies tomorrow evening ? ladies 30 minutes of your time please, I won?t keep you busy to long.

The lions are in a separate part of the park. and they are known to be very friendly (i have seen it) especially to car tyres . I saw a bakkie have its tyres removed quicker than the pit crew can do it in F1.
