Default Why no discount for "Advanced Bike Riding skills"

Why is it that insurance companies welcome advanced driving for your tin box and give you a discount; but not for bike schools ?

I went to Michelin Bike School on Saturday 20th (in the rain) and did my first B1 class (have done two C class before), but they wouldn't insure me at all ! Managed to 'negotiate' a R10000 excess for the day (but only under instruction).

But no discount for me, even now that I have improved my riding skills.
Less risk ? They don't think so !
    Huh ???
    Everybody crashes.
Some get back on and ride again.
    Some don't.
    Some can't.

methinks your history might be having a bit of a -ve offset...

although, in the general case, the insurers I found that offered special dispensation for certain things turned out to be more expensive anyways for a given policy. I recall when I had a certain rare car, hardly drove it so hunted around for a very limited mileage policy. When I found one, it turned out a couple of hundred quid more than a bog-standard one - so turned out to be no point.

Ried Ritzer insured me for track day, no problem.
Also when I did my advance riding with BMW, ( both my wife and myself )
    our insurance dropped buy R200.

Never had a problem with them claiming either.
