A lot of studies have been done on this - perhaps we should look at their database ERD and create an online form on the TB website? Structure is the key.

OK, I'll give you my first and only, a little one.

Back in 1997, on my way to school on a Kawa AE80. It ws freezing and I wasn't concentration, I think I may have been checking my fuel tap about 50m after pulling off from a stop street in an industrial area. When I looked in front of me there was a Nissan 1400 bakkie standing still. I had about two metres to swerve or stop, and sort of tried doing both before hitting the left corner of the bakkie with the right side of my bike, and more impotantly my right shin connecting the bumper. My leg bone was sticking out through my pants, and my bikes forks were written off.

    20/09/2007

06h05 on Monkor drive between Byers Naude and Rabie Street in Randburg, Gauteng.

Clear day, early morning, straight road with speed humps. Speed......, no more than 50Km/h.

Cagiva Navigator 1000, Lane splitting 6 cagers when second to front had enough and decided to overtake front vehicle without indicating or looking as I was passing her.

Bike was a write off, broken ribs, fractured elbow and hip.

Blackie from when, ie accidents after which date? Surely my 1986 accident does not belong here, despite months in the hospital ....

Possibly add rider details in terms of age, Learners or Licence, and years experience. Finally time on "current bike" (have heard that you are more prone to an accident during the first few days/weeks on a new bike)

Possibly even indicate if the rider ever had official training.

These kinds of stats can go a long way to dispelling urban legends .....
