    Default Misty eyed and chilly

I wear glasses and am having issues with the lenses fogging up when riding in "brisk" weather. I have a pin-lock visor fitted to my helmet so the visor doesn't fog up but my glasses are an issue. Up until last year I was wearing contact lenses so didn't have this particular problem. Unfortunately I can't wear contacts anymore and am stuck with glasses. I ride with the vents on my helmet open to get at least some airflow but I don't want to ride with the visor cracked open coz it makes my schnozz chilly.

Does anybody have any tips or advice on how to stop glasses fogging?

Have you tried something like C-THRU or Rain-X?

And Simoniz (from Midas) make an Anti-mist glass wipe that may work well.

    Hi Grumpygeezer,

Welcome to the fogged-up club! I also wear spectacles and experienced the same problem. Here are my findings: The cheapest and best solution (in my opinion) is shaving gel. The negative part is you have to apply it daily, or I have to because I clean my spectacles too often. Before I go to bed at night, I apply a thin layer, leave it on for a minute or so, wipe it off, and put it on the nightstand so I don't have to do it in the morning before I leave for work.

Be careful of C-tru because it might degrade any coatings on your glasses.

Thanks Kristoe, especially for the advice on C-Thru. I've also been told dishwashing soap works so I guess I have some experimentation to do. See what works best.

People have given me a lot of advise on what to use. I've tried dishwashing soap, baby shampoo, anti-dandruff shampoo, hand sanitizer, potato and in the end shaving gel worked the best.

Have a look at this video (it's about car windows fogging up, but the principal is the same):

I also wear prescription spectacles. What's working for me is to clean my visor and my spectacles with Mr Min.
