Default New rider with a big problem - please help!

    Hi all,

    I have a terrible problem...

I can't get into my car anymore to commute to work. This morning for example I got up and took my municipal wheely bin out and had a look at the weather. Overcast, windy and it looked like it wanted to rain. Car or bike? Bike without a doubt. The smile that the bike puts on my face is amazing. So any of you also having this problem?

Then again when my work day is done and it is time to go home I get this weird grin on my face again and I am sure my colleagues wonder what's going on with me.

Being stuck in a car at all the broken traffic lights and in the traffic congestion here on Northumberland road is not so much fun as being on my bike.

I think it is a disease that doesn't require a cure haha!

there are a lot of us that can and will relate. I used to work 8km from home, against traffic, so driving was not a major issue. In 2016, I started a job in Sandton, got rid of the car and have not looked back. The wife has a car and so does my daughter, so it is easy to get things done on weekends. I doubt that I will ever go back to owning one myself

It's a terrible terrible problem that should not be cured. I have the same problem

50000 km on the bike and 12000 km in the cage over a similar time period. I think I may have a problem ---> Too much time in the cage.

What are you guys smoking? It is those who prefer the cage that have the disease. Nothing wrong with any of us!

Agreed, I only use my cage when weather forces me to
    My two principles
1 warmer than 12 degrees and
2 not raining at my home
Then it's bike with my son as pillion to be dropped at school.

Used my cage today and it really was frustrating not having responsible freedom, felt sick, must be the disease symptoms...

I only have 1 rule when it comes to driving my bakkie, it must be raining before I leave home or else I bike it, doesn't matter the temperature LOL. The only other time is if the bike is out of commission for some reason.

I think my father in law put more mileage on the bakkie in the last week than I have since the beginning of the year.

    Welcome!

It's the car that's a disease, sitting for 1.5-2 hours in a 20km one way route! Insanity!

Got caught out in the heavy downpour yesterday in the east wasn't that fun, but definitely shaved a coupled hours with all the broken lights, flooded roads, and idiot car drivers.

Exactly. I also got caught out a few times in the rain but so worth it. When I get home I just take a nice hot shower and all's well.

It was very windy riding home yesterday, but I still wouldn't trade the bike for a car.

Note to self... stay off the baked beans.

There I thought the noise was generated by the grand exhaust on your bike!

Had to use my cage this morning.
Stuck on the N1 towards R21 watching the bikes pass me was terrible.
Hope my bike will forgive me for leaving her alone for the day.

Hang in there, I've been there
I have two sons, they grow up - then comes the "Dad, I wanna bike..." - enjoy safe time with your son, you'll cherish it soon enough
