    Thumbs down Thanklessness!

To those of you who know me, you'll know I'm a pretty fair minded bloke, grumpy but fair minded!
Now In January I had to go into hospital for a few tests, mostly for my buggered lungs, but some recurring stomach problems as well. Not unexpectedly my lungs are worse than my last check up 4 years ago, but that was to be expected, so no surprise there.
The surprise came in the form of the results of my colonscopy!
A 25mm Malignant growth at 35cm up my large intestine, and on later examination of the scopes, three more found at 25cm! Not the best of news, but my surgeon reckons there is an above average chance of cutting them out and rejoining my intestine, though it will me a colostomy for about 9 months!
Now for the thanklessness part, I have been with my employer since December 2015, and in the time I have been here, I have taken one day sick leave in 2017, and three days in 2018, when I had my neck rebuilt and was booked off for 8 weeks, but came back to work after three days! My hospital stay in January this year was 4 working days, and now I need to go in on the 18th for the surgery, and I will be in hospital for a week, and off for a week, then I'll be back but on light duty for another 4-5 weeks, so in order to keep the hydraulics side going, we need to hire a temp. Great, no problem, I find a young guy,who is a hydraulic fitter, knows the business, even knows pastel accounting!
You do realise that his pay will be coming out of your salary says my boss? WTF, are you friggin mad? As an employee, I am entitled to six weeks (30 days) PAID sick leave every three year cycle, and as I only used four of my last cycles days, I think they could be a bit more accommodating!
As far as I can ascertain, it is illegal for him to even attempt this!
I have arranged a meeting with him and our HR manager tomorrow morning, but I do not imagine he is going to come away happy!

Above all keep calm in the meeting and with the employers.

State the case and write notes as you go along...

FFS.... And all the best with the medical proceedures (where were my manners!)

My 2 cents. Have you tried fasting for the growths in the stomach?

As for the boss he is surely joking, and will probably say that he was joking, but one does not joke about sh1t like that. I smell CCMA.

As WBro says, take notes, represent yourself in a calm manner. The boss is going to poke you and try to trip you up, don't fall for the bait.

Slip_Stream, sorry but fasting won't work, too far gone! But thanks for the thought. As to the work situation, all resolved, just a case of everybody being under major stress and short connections between the brain and mouth on both sides.
I'm very glad, as I really enjoy the work, and bearing in mind I'm not 21 anymore, it suits me down to the ground!

All the best Vespa. Hope the procedure is a success and the healing itself a speedy one (not for employer's sake, but yours).
