    Default Phakisa 2016-11-26

So this was probably my last track day for the year. So many different family events etc coming up.
I recently got a new helmet. My old one was Ooooolllld already, noisy and a little uncomfortable.
I upgraded to a Bell RS-1. That thing is COMFY and QUIET!

It was an awesome day! First session I dropped 1 second off of my personal best at Phakisa... so an epic start to the day.
But then some older and wiser peeps said my back tyre was toast (which explained why I had started feeling it spinning up on corner exits now).
So I had to buy a new rear tyre. Not so great.

Next session I dropped another second off of my time. R-Know from Track daze said I was still moving my body while braking hard and that I should
try move and then brake and then turn. So I spent the next couple of sessions working on being smoother. That led me to drop another 4 seconds off of my
    personal best.

The front tyre I have on now is a Ross Corsa II and I think I'm starting to get to it's limits in cornering... maybe? I've had one incident where
I lost the front and caught it in a corner and I can feel the front is starting to say "no faster in this corner" in some corners. In other corners
    I am still too slow.

    Overall an EPIC day.

This new helmet makes me look 5 times more pro than the old one :-P

I'm still super impressed with how epic my cheapass paint job came out!

    Nice!

Has someone checked out your suspension? Could be the reason why the front is getting a bit "light" when you are pushing it hard.

And is still my favourite track!

I had a guy from a race prep/support company do a bounce test and change a few things.
He said the back shock would need to be rebuilt sometime. I think I'll get a proper suspension setup done in the new year.

Phakisa is an awesome track ja. I'd like to do Kyalami one day... but it's R3000 for one day currently :O

Good idea to get it checked out...

BTW chat to Typhoon (Johann Van Deventer) next time you see him about a back tyre..... he was out during a practice session at Phakisa and was complaining that the rear Dunlop wasn't gripping as nicely as usual. Which wasn't surprising when we looked as he had ridden it down to the canvas But he always was a lunatic!

    Bike looks lekker, Warren

Maybe speak to Leroy from Adrenalin Powersport, he knows a thing or 20 about setting up suspension. I got tips from him a while back at Redstar and some fiddling later the bike was literally transformed.
I am taking my Tuono to them in the new year for some suspension setup.

Thanks man . I know Leroy. He did a quick bounce test and a couple of adjustments to my bike at Phakisa halfway through the year. I'd like to get a proper suspension setup done.
Or even start looking into the dark arts of suspension tuning myself... lol.
