    Default New here

    Hi guys

I've been riding a couple of years now. Dual sport stuff (badly), on a Honda XR650L and a Honda Transalp 700. Due to me meeting up with an old school mate, I have been doing a lot of road riding and much less DS stuff.
So I'm having a change of heart and considering selling my DS scoots and buying something road orientated.

Hoping to grab a decent priced Yamaha Fazer 1000. My mind can be changed because I'm only now starting to look at road bikes.

    OH I'm 45yrs
A big bloke, so crouching on an R1 or similar crotch rocket doesn't really suit me. (I do love ém)
Longer distance sport tourer is where I'm looking.
I'm not a speed demon, more a casual easy rider but I do like to have the extra power when I need it.
I also don't like torturing the motor and making it scream.

I've been on Wilddog forum but I'm glad I've found this one, where all bikes are considered and is not only Dual sport focused

Like I care. It's only you youngsters that worry about horses, 0 to 100/s and top speed. I'm happy with 114 horses and 115 Nm in traffic.

And the other saying is : " It's not always what you ride but also how you ride. "

Nothing wrong with your TA. Do yourself a favour and go ride (as per your example) a Fazer (or VFR800/1200F or similar) and see if you like the riding position. Coming from a NC, I didn't like the position of a VFR800F. Sure, nice power and all that, but that's not for me.

If you want a big-ish bike, have a look at the VFR800X (since coming from Honda) or the VFR 1200x (Although over your budget). I'm very happy with BMW & BMW Bavarian's aftersales, so also look at the R1200 GS or RT.(If you don't intend commuting, although it can be done)

Not bad idea is also to join some rider training. Riding in traffic might require new skills, etc.

That is a really good suggestion, I almost forgot about the bandit.
    A very underrated bike.

I have a reputation for picking the right bikes for people. A Bandit is not only quite good looking but stable and balanced enough for a commute. they also make a really good tourer as they are comfy to ride and the ergo's are great.

The only problems is that the main stream see them as being boring, which they are not and in the hands of a good rider can run rings around a super in corners.

Your Transalp is a two stager, it can putter around and then you get this second power band that comes in and it can fly. The Bandit's characteristics are similar.
