Default Sanral & "Suicide Lane" Rider

    Sanral.jpg

Just picked this up on Twitter this morning (24 May 2016 @ 09h45).

Quiet an allegation if it is true. According to Justice Project South Africa (@JPSAorg) biker was rammed into barriers last week Friday. Anyone know of the incident. Evidently another biker into the barriers on the N1 last night, similar allegation.

Are Sanral allowed to act as law enforcement officers?
    This is really concerning!

Most probably a incident of road rage with one of the parties in a company branded car.

Just an allegation at this stage.

If true nail the driver to the wall. If Sanral policy, nail them all to the wall. If not true, nail Justice Project to the wall.

After reading Justice Projects further tweets I am wondering why the biker was in the suicide lane? Friday evening the highway isn't that busy. Also, according to JP the car came all the way across the highway to hit the biker, so not much traffic at all.

    ???

Sadly it is becoming the norm, traffic or no traffic. the new thing I have noticed are bikers using the SL to overtake vehicles and then move back into the lane.

we try to tell bikers not to ride in the SL ,because this type of thing could happen

so now it happened and we feeling sorry for the biker? and want get revenge ..
but if he rode in the correct lane like most of us , this wouldn't have happened.

what about us who ride correctly and when these guys fly past on the SL the cars move into our path
and they not doing 80kmph it's more like 120 kmph with very little space for mistakes.

btw even if the sanrail bakkie was at fault ... the biker is actually at fault
similar to riding without a licence etc
if you have an accident and it was the other person fault but you don't have a license . you are at fault

anyways hope the biker is okay
perhaps more bikers will start lane splitting

Sadly people don't learn and most bikers will probably not see this, either here or on social media, iof they do, all they will see or take from it is that a SANRAL driver was reckless and this wouldn't happen to them.

If what Sanral says is true, it would have happened to this rider anyway. Accident ahead. Sanral vehicle with siren and lights slowing down traffic and closing lanes. He tries to slip past and is stopped.

Anyone who has ever marshalled will understand the problem of vehicles refusing to adhere to indications from a marshal, traffic cop, SAPS member, etc.
