Riaz, this is the original, authentic Stomp grip tank pad

And on the other bike is my home made one. It has a lower profile because my leg doesn't go any higher than that against the tank.

I used some textured rubber matting about 3mm thick that I found in Builders Warehouse. My leather suit has a grippy surface inside the knees and the two lock together well. This has been on my bike for about a year and has been a good solution.

The rest of the roll is now a mat in the load area of my Bantam bakkie.

The Stompgrip does work even better of course, but at quite a price.

Just a word of caution. If you go DIY on this kind of thing you must be meticulous in your execution! Otherwise, well, it kinda shows...

    Thanks guys.

Colleen I only have two because a friend sold me his SP at a price that was impossible to refuse. The other one will have to go, although it is a fantastic bike.

Both of them are quite special:

I saw a Black Fireblade in a parking garage a couple of weeks ago and went up to measure what the ride height is like...(I am a shorty)...it's about the same as my 250 so hopefully one day when I am ready I will be able to upgrade

I progressed from left to right here quite quickly. The ride height did feel about the same, although the riding position is different.

But this was after a 21 year break from motorcycling, having ridden bikes for my entire youth and early adult life (stopped motorcycling because I had young kids).

    Worked the whole weekend.
Wheeled the bikes outside, ran them up to 70+ degress, revved them to 10k rpm and pushed them back inside. Weekend done.
