So my GS was taken out Tuesday from under me by a stupid lady in a Chev.
Scenario: 4 lane in Church Street Pretoria West, I was in the 2nd lane from the left. She was stationary at the Buitekant Street T-junction on the left of me. My speed 30 - 40 km/h. Although no other vehicles were even close to me she decided that she need to be where I am. Came flying from my left at such a speed that not even my ABS helped. First she wanted to flee the scene by my lovey saw her and came flying in against the traffic and blocked her and forced her to pull over. Later she again tried to flee the scene but he 'convinced' her to stay put.
My left knee is badly bruised and further on I am blue in places I didn't know I had. The headache took 2 days to bugger off. Without my ATGATT I would've had no skin on my knees or my left shoulder and with a ****pot I would've lost half my face. My X-Culture eazy-over pants have a white burn mark on the knee and my jacket has a few scuff marks on the shoulder and elbow. My helmet needs replacement.
A tow-in service guy appeared out of no-where and was a bit 'disappointed' when I instructed him in a very civilized way not to touch my bike. I phoned BMW Bavaria Centurion which collected my bike in a flash at no charge and keeps it safe in their workshop.
Gemima Puddle Duck has only cosmetic damage. New respect for the GS - it's a bladdy hard bike.
I need to replace 2 helmets with Bluetooth (they were damaged) and get my R2500 payment on my insurance back. How do I go about claiming from RAF? I've been a paid-up member of Think Bike for many years now.
