Is the ride going to be limited to bike size or as long as you can maintain the TB forum speed of 119.5

Stunning ride! I will be in the Northern Free State, possibly nursing a light hangover. Enjoy it and ride safely!

Years ago, the longest distance I had ever done in a day, was a brekkie to Dullstroom and back - 750km. And then, a mate and I rode to Windhoek in one day - abt 1500km. We left Joburg at 4:20 and by 18:00 we were havig beer in Windhoek.

It was ****** tough for me, but from then onwards, it was fine. Two days on that trip we did more than 700km and it was plain sailing.

So, my advice is: Do it!

It's not a difficult ride. If I can do the Cape to Pretoria trip in one day, you should be able to handle this. Plenty rest stops for sustenance.

Don't know if I'll make it as my bike needs servicing, just racked up over four thousand km over the last week. Past my service interval...

@ Colyvon; if you remember the Clarens ride last year - it was a 600km trip for me (800+ for you) and up to 400k's I was OK, after that my bum was numb and my neck stiff!

Very tempted by this ride though (although it will end up being 1100km for me); something I've been dreaming about.

Stiff neck and numb bum is a given on any long ride.

Yup! Even doing 20500 km in 51 weeks in 35-50 km spurts in my case does not prepare you sufficiently for a long run.

Nothing does. You will get a numb bum and stiff neck over distance. The only question is how far into the trip.
