As I said "No problems so far, only had and heard of good service!

Had it in the workshop whilst I was away!

So is there any clue as to when exactly these bikes will arrive in SA?

Or will they be Pre-2014 models?

My local dealership told me that they're aiming for June/July.

End July to August. R49 995 A mate paid the deposit and placed the order.

Seriously not a bad price, and I really wanted to go for it. Physically a tad small for tall riders perhaps and combine that with a pillion... My other issue was in the back of my mind I was wondering about taking somethign offroad perhaps / touring.
Seriously wanted to get one, but for my needs I ended up getting the Honda Transalp 700 on Saturday. I still look at this Duke and it's a mighty fine looking machine though and for the price esp since it has ABS..... Hope I made the right decision in the long run...

If you really will tour and do some dirt-roads I think you have made the right choice!
I agree on it being a touch small for taller guys, I am shorter and only weigh 75kgs so I am really excited to give this thing a look/test-ride!
I need a commuter with a bit of a fun-side for the city so this Duke suits my needs

I agree, for you this would basically be the perfect bike imho, should you want it for commuting and fun riding. At 1.84 it's a a bit tiny esp since i would want to ride with my wife as a pillion.
The Duke is definitely a more exciting bike than the Alp though lol
I think the Alp will serve my needs well though. For the price i can't complain, I was going to get a ninja 300 for twice the price i paid for the Transalp with extras, so I'm smiling, maybe I can get a Duke second hand sometime as a toy if i really get into things

Speaking of the Ninja, I think it has some serious competition from the Duke 390. at R50k it's R10k cheaper and it has ABS + 75 extra cc's.
I would also LOVE to know what the Honda CBR500R and 500F is going to be priced at.

Hi guys, I'm really considering getting the 390 Duke as my first bike.My only real concern is maintenance, I know KTM's are reliable but what does a service usually cost?

Also - what is the service interval on the 390?

Manufacturing out of India with KTMs' stringent QC (According to the press) has it's perks!

Awesome, now I wanna see the Duke in the desert, it looks like with the crash-bars, bash-guards on the handlebars and some knobblies it'd be fun in some sand!
I hope you get your licence sorted asap and get a scoot under you, I am sure it'll help you feel more at home ASAP.
