    Hi Jason

Good luck with getting the learners. Please make sure that you get some proper training before hitting the road. Too many beginner riders are killed on our roads due to lack of proper training. Maybe try and find an experienced rider who can take you under his wing for a few weeks and teach you the basics.

Thanks AMZ - Just got the manual now and there is a lot of useful stuff in it. I think I'll let Honda start me off on the service programme as I am a complete novice in the mechanical area, until I get to know the bike better.

Hi Bean. I am not sure yet - the thing is I'll be working various shifts once I start (I only start on Friday so will have a better idea then)...plus I only take my learners on 22 September.

I'll post a pic of my bike hopefully tomorrow - I just took delivery of it this evening.

Thanks Gary-t - good advice - is that regarding the full licence (am I right that the learners is just for highway code?)? I have been recommended a good instructor who will prepare me for the full test.

Hi Heftycrab (I've only just seen that you also drive an E-Storm!),
That's very good advice - I don't want to feel pressurised into pushing the bike on it's run-in period. I'll make a note of what you said re the top revs of 5000 and varying the speed.

Yaaaaaa!i love my little e-storm! :P even if i do get a bigger bike later, ill keep it as my around-town bike. Its the little bike that could.ive had it 8months and not 1 problem.just lube the chain (adjust it now and then),check tyre pressure, and follow service schedule.and it just goes!ohya.put in some petrol now and then ;).believe it or not, but many people have come up to me and asked me about it. guess its cuz its not as intimidating as a big bike my father (knows his way around cars) showed the the basics with maintanence (eg. changing oil) and ive been doing it since.easy peasy.enjoy the e-storm!just remember it for what its meant to be-a commuter.not a superbike.

Hi Heftycrab - that's great that you love your E-Storm - I'll be posting a profile pic of mine in a few minutes. Do you do your own servicing? I know very little (so far) about bike mechanics so will probably not attempt it yet

Ya i service it myself.the first time my father helped me (he serviced his own cars for years),but we basically just followed the manuals instructions I do it myself aslong as its nothing major.the most 'complicated' thing ive done is change the oil and thats easy. its an air-cooled motor.they dont come less complicated than that.

Thanks Heftycrab - I'm going through the manual at the moment (bedtime reading!) and surprised at how much is in there!

Oh yes. Or DL1000 if you are that way inclined.

Good idea. Personally I would always let te manufacturer do the first service anyway. These bikes are pretty easy to service though and it can be a nice "hobby" doing it yourself, as long as you remember that there is more to it than just changing the oil.

    Yo jasonr!

How's the E-Storm treating you now that you've had some time with her? Always been curious about this bike. Are you enjoying it?

    Hey Happyogre!

I love the bike - I'm still running it in so not doing more than 55kph yet but in another 100km I'll be able to open her up a bit more. I don't really have a reference point for bikes but I am definitely enjoying the E-Storm - I filled up with R85 120km ago and the guage is still above the full mark!
