It's not how fast you can ride --- it's how fast you can STOP!

Damn Boet you're lucky it's just the bike...... a hell of a lot of peeps never ever got to walk again from that type of crash.
It's not a problem getting a scare... (been there)....with time the memories get faded, but the skills and caution get better. And the urge to do an instructed off-road course gets stronger and stronger too.
ED..hang in there, don't let it scare you off biking.. honestly..... ... Mikie can show you around some really special places and open up some really special experiences you'll love to remember... keep on riding!!
Ride for the moon....and even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars!!

Take your time to re-assess the situation... don't make rash decisions just yet. Whatever you decide though, you have my full support![]()
When in doubt, Gas It! It may not solve the problem, but it WILL end the suspense!
Strongs Mikie and to Ed aswell, glad you guys are still here to tell the story
Strongs guys...![]()
Lost it down the highway.
Down the dotted line.
You were going your way.
I was going mine.
strongs mates - heal up soon.
Hey Mikie and friend
Hope you heal well soon !

Mikie, think about keeping the GS, you would miss it big time. At least you can do easier routes and still go off-road and there are plenty around in this country of ours. Get on it again, take off-road training and get your confidence back.
You can plan lekker trips and can avoid deep long sand stretches, the adventure is just not good for deep soft sand. But you need to stick to some basics - don't go off-road on your own, it's like diving. And I had a look at the pictures - you obviously went on the trip with your standard tyres. Knobblies make a huge difference.
The bike looks close to a write off, think about it and hope, you make the right choice![]()
You don't ride in the rain, you don't ride!
tsk tsk Mikie .. sand was never your friend.
Hope you and Ed are healing up quickly.
Well done Trumpet .. you are a true friend![]()
It Don't mean a thang if it ain't got that BLING!!!

SH|T!!! Mikie, glad you guys are ok.
The pain does go away after time, some meds and some phisio. My shoulder only feels like it used to after 4 weeks, lots of pain killers & anti-inflamatory meds and 5 sessions of phisio. And my fall weren't even as bad as yours.
Best of luck with getting your confidance back. Just know it will take some time and training.
Hey Mikie, I'm glad your OK. I sent you an e-mail from my phone when I heard of the sand ride. But I couldn't open the pictures.
You have more lives than the black cat on our 4 corners trip and should be happy for that. They say cats have 9 lives, how many do you have left??
You just can't keep from those sand roads or do they find you??
Once and a while life throws you a curve ball (a baseball term) and we are lucky if we can talk about them.![]()
Cheers to my good friend, get well.

Yeah I also think my time on earth must have some purpose which I havent fulfilled yet :yahoo:
Wont be needing any physio, only pain I have is bruising, the worst is internal bruising in my chest, didnt take any meds today and good lord am I in pain now, almost feell like its a battle to breath :sigh:
..... but I am minor compared to Ed
She went off to the doc this morning cos she had constant headaches and was dizzy occasionally, The doc did some tests and scans and she has been booked off for the rest of the week, she had bad bruising on the brain and a little bleeding too, nothing serious though as he hasnt admitted her, she has been booked off for the rest of the week and got lotsa meds to take too. Oh and a cracked finger
Now I feel really bad, I dont think I ever wanna ride with a pillion again. If I crash again its only me, no one else to be responsible for :damn:
