    Default Conspiracy Theory

You know how it is... your bike won't start so you take it to the workshop where they quote you for a new battery, stator, wiring loom and fusebox which together costs more than the bike is worth, so you pull the bike up in your buddy's garage and he find's one of the fuses has come loose...ops:

Well Madam and I went to have our eyes tested at a "Famous Name" place in the local mall. When I went to pick up my specs I found I couldn't see further than an inch beyond my nose. "Oh you need our new sooperdooper space age technologically advanced moondust coated hyper polished multifocal lenses" they tell me... it's an absolute bargain at only triple the price.

Her's is also fuzzy and I'm wondering what their story will be.
I'm also wondering if anyone else is having the same problem with their subscription spectacles...?

Are they really idjuts working there, or are they "pulling the wool over my eyes"...?

Same story, when I had them tested, the trial lot were great! But when I picked up my new moondust, para optical, multifocal whiz machines, I could see shyte! Oh your eyes must have deteriorated??? in 6 days?? I know I'm getting old, but that is flippin ridiculous! Sfunny, my old ones still seem to work quite well!
As to doctors, why do we go to people who are still practicing, can't we find some one who actually knows what they are doing??

When I had my glasses replaced, same scenario was as blind as bat with the new glasses, threw a mini tantrum and was enlightened that the lens were for close up work as for working on a computer.

So I asked the very friendly gentleman what he proposed I should wear as my drivers license is endorsed, got a rather blank stare back for my efforts ops:

He then rather in an iffy changed the lens and now I have a pair of classes that allow me to work on my laptop and to read the numberplate of the vehicle in front of me whilst driving.

Da'Fiz, I strongly suggest you go to a pucker optician. About 3 years ago my mom went to one of those 'famous name' places at N1 City. She kept telling him she could not see what he was asking her to look at. Instead of investigating further he just got p***ed off with her. She got glasses but eventually went to a specialist and because of the delay, is now legally blind.

Rather pay a bit more but get the correct prescription and check-up.

put it to you this way

R7850 p/a for specs' lenses - no frames...

R12k for lasik - lasts according to the specialists for ever - well if it lasts 3 years its worth it for me - and no damage to my lid, can see at night without seperate specs, can scuba and actually see fish, can kite without funny straps, can watch TV and fall asleep without frame diggin into my head etc...

    Default shyte

In my usual Fiz fashion I stirred up some shyte in the shop, and they're now gonna fit the 'standard' lens with the correct focal length at no extra cost. (it still remains to be seen whether or not they got it right)

What um saying is don't just accept shoddy service from highly trained soopercompetent professional rocket scientists that are only out to squeez you for more munny.

I'm starting to resist more than ever now coz wherever I go now, in every business I encounter, every single day, someone is bullsh!tt!ing me and trying to steal my munny (which I really don't have much ofops.

    exactly the same here.!!!
i took in my bike a while ago because my front brakes were pretty tight...
first thing they tune me is this and that about the calipers and it being a 4 hour job..!!! i know what they charge so i immediately got my girl out of there..!
Took it to a connection of mine that stripped both calipers, cleaned the pistons and put in new brake fluid...
all that for only R100, done while i was waiting just over a hour..!!
needless to say i never take my girl to any bike shops at all...

I went to one of those fanchise jobs too - bloody useless. I think it was Torga Optical, Testicle Specticles.

Now I just stick to the proper optometrist that I used to sort out their mess.

Wore glasses for 22 years. Lasik 11 years ago and haven't looked back. Of course, I am now reaching the age where my arms are becoming too short to read, but it is exactly on cue as predicted by the guy who did the LASIK.

However! There is something to be said for bad eyesight. The worst your sight is, the more pretty girls there are.

    Default medical aid...?

Will Discovery pay for the lazer eye treatment...?
I don't wear specs for driving nor TV, but working on a AppleMac for the past ten years or more have had a significant impact, so I need them for work only.

Nope, medical aids don't pay any more because it's a 'cosmetic surgery'

Most medical aids don't, but if memory serves Discovery and Bonitas top of the range option do. Best to check with them.

DaFiz - Tygervalley go in by the "Mugg and Bean" entrance 2nd or 3rd shop on your right are optomitrists. Owner and his wife tests your eyes - good inter action. They have their own lab that manufactures/cuts the lenses on site.

Now if only I can remember where I left my reading glasses .... ops:
