I have a plastic helmet(was literally all I could afford)

I have dropped it multiple times, even thrown it on the cement in rage.. It was in my huge fender bender when I TBoned a golf(it actually flew off my head before I hit te ground and luckily I had a well packed backpack on which saved my neck and back, but still cut my head open)

What I am trying to say is yes you get waht you pay for(cr@p helmet). Sad thing is I still use this helmet(5 months later) and know I am not supposed to. I dont take care of it at all and probably do all the things I am not meant to. I would love to buy a new helmet though evn one that costs 1500, but financial strains are tough(and no I only payed 15k for my bike)

I will however get a new one come christmas

Thanks for an awesome write up and for all the enlightenment

    What size are you ?
Ask around, maybe someone has an old helmet that they will pass on.....

But, if someone can and does help, do not drop it, let alone throw it

    INFO UPDATE:

On helmet strap buckles: It's getting pretty rare to see the sliding bar design these days, which is good because they were always fiddly things. Most of your choices will be between Double D or Quick Release.
Quick release buckles also vary between a car seatbelt-type, and a pull tab-type. Either works just as well as the other, so base your helmet choice on the fit an quality; not your preference for a buckle design.

Glad the article's continuing to be of help.

    Hi Da'Fiz

I ride with an Arai tour x. It is a very comfortable helmet and is nice and stable even at higher speeds. The peek does not cause excessive noise but it would undoubtably be quieter without it.

    Nice post.

I am looking at getting a new helmet as mine is about 5 years old. Any thoughts on Spirit and Mars helmets? I know Spirit has a ECE 22.05 & SABS rating, not sure about Mars though. They cost about the same.

    Thanks

There is a thread somewhere around here where Spirit's aftermarket sales service received a bashing. Will see if I can dig it up.

    Edit: Here.

Did you know # 356 : If you become a member of Think Bike you will receive 10% discount at most of the biker stores ?

That saving will be, unless you buy a really cheap helmet, more than what the memberships costs.....
These savings will of course continue with each subsequent purchase you make.

...and wait, there's more, included with your membership costs is FREE road cover for a year :

    Jip, I saw that!

Already submitted my TB application and payment online. Just awaiting approval I guess... Will most definitely be using the discount!
