Woah, okay, that sounds cool actually. If I see the traffic does the same for most of the way on my commute I'll probably take the scoot for a drive at least once to see how that goes. It would be great becasue the petrol consumption on the scooter is insanely low.

    Post Welcome

    Hey DreamFoundry,

I am also new here. Not as lucky as you to pick up such a nice bike at a good price. I am looking for a CBR400, but to find such a nice bike that is still decent is proving to be a testing task!!

But good luck! Although I don't have a bike yet, I know that ATGATT is extremely important, being wide awake and saying a small prayer should get the job done.

    Enjoy!

Hey, good luck to you in your bike search. I hope it goes well.

Yeah, the SV650 is incredible. I'm starting to feel a bit more at home on now. I'm not much of a speeder so the top speed doesn't matter to me so much, but what IS great is that I can very quickly place the bike exactly where I want it in traffic. It has a lot of torque, so if I decide I want to be *there* I just give a bit of gas and it goes.

The first time I drove my old scooter after a few days of the SV650 I almost thought it was giving problems or something, until I realised that I had simply gotten used to the SV and that 150cc really doesn't get one very far.

welcome welcome and welcome again !

I used to commute with a 125 Suzy scooter from Centurion to Sandton on a daily basis but now live in Slaapstad - same distance but bigger bike.
Two important rules for the N1 in GP I've learned

    1. always think for the guy infront of the guy infront of you and same applies for up to 5 vehicles behind you... dont asume... it can hurt you badly !
    2. never exceed the traffic speed by more than 10kph

thus rather drive slowly and alert in traffic and eventually get there than never at all...

enjoy TB ! great forum and even greater people !

    Post Sv650

Ok, DreamForge! Thaaanx buddy, now I too want an SV650! hehehe. Been reading reviews about it and all that. Must say, sounds like a great bike for us Noobs. So... does anyone here have a post 2002 model they are selling which is in good nick? I am tempted to buy a new one, but at R66000 VS maybe 35K-40K for a second hand one which someone has really taken care of, I would really be interested.

Went to that joy run this weekend in Meyerton. I don't know about you guys, but I never hear of car events raising funds for charity? Or am I mistaken? Look, there are a lot of rough people out there that ride bikes and they give bikers a bad name. But until they see that bikers are people too, that misconception will lingerie (linger). But with ThinkBike raising awareness I think people will see bikers differently and actually see them on the road!! That is a very big concern of mine.

    Have a lovely week people!!
