When the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Ride was initiated in 2006 it was the first of its kind in South Africa. The purpose of the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Ride is to spread the message of a positive attitude and of hope regarding breast cancer, in a unique and vibrant way. This is achieved through a volunteer group of breast cancer survivors travelling across South Africa on motorcycles and sharing their stories of Hope. At the same time these dynamic role models highlight the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

During 2011 ThinkBike was involved by providing some training to the riders and escourting the ladies out of town and some riders rode with them a ways longer. This was to be the start of a very close cooperation between JoH and TB. This year TB will be involved on a much closer level. The 2012 JoH kicked of this past weekend and I was fortunate enough to spend some time with the Joh Riders as well as the JoH and TB teams.

Initially I would help for an hour or two with some scooter training, but eventually Mags and I spend most of Saturday and part of Sunday with the groups. I certainly hope what happens at JoH stays at JoH and pray that there were no cameras around. Their excellent motivational speaker had us do strange things ... for me anyway.

As this incredible group of ladies who will ride the bikes, with the JoH and TB teams take this event forward during 2012, I have no doubt that it will be a huge success, partly due to the selfless involvement and hard work by all, but my pride (a tad one sided, I know) is with the TB team. I know the whole of TB will be behind our team on this project and so they should. You guys rock!

The second training session was held in Edenvale this past Sunday. Thanks to Honda (the official bike sponsors), we had three geared bikes and one scooter. The ladies and gent made huge progress and we have high hopes for them for October!

Again, my thanks to the hard work work being put in by Dgener8 and Hover on this project. You guys do TB proud!

It isn't only the two of us, there is an entire team involved. I'm not going to name the individuals for fear of leaving somebody off the list, but AMZ you and Mags are there for the girls and putting as much time in with the training as the rest of us!
