How about a long weekend in April? We know Foxie should be able to walk by then & since it's a national bash - it's enough time for peeps all over to join?

Gonna chat wiff Gunner -see if we can do it in conjunction with KFC "Add Hope" - depending on size etc.

Date not set...just an idea I had while there, Fox grabbed it. Gunner's Co starts again mid-Jan (so his marketing team will get involved), date dependent on response here :dontknow:

Bike ride idea (around the dam) - busy looking at various accommodation options in the area. Proposed time to do this:- September - October 2012 :dontknow: - its too cold in winter (in freezes there) and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY hot in summer... I dont know the dates of the major rallies at that time :sad1:
38795
This ride would include a trip INTO the dam wall at Gariep (on foot...no biker flying over the wall). A possible braai at one of the dorpies, a trip over the Aqueduct - and will include 3 provinces

28 September - 8 October ...hmmm

Huh? Maybe in WC, not private schools in GP.

School holidays for us start 8 August & they return to school 11 September.
Half term is 18 to 23 October.

Have no idea as to the government schools though.

School holidays:

Private Schools (may vary)
8 August - 10 September
18 - 23 October

Public Schools (all provinces)
23 June - 15 July
29 September - 7 October

Public Holidays
Thursday 9 August
Monday 24 September

So essentially none of the three "types" of holidays overlap at all. My vote goes to one of the public holiday weekends, but that's easy for me to say with no kids :-p

What is the usual agenda at one of these things?

What he said.

Is it all organised and planned, or just a bunch of us chilling by the dam?

I'd like to either get there or get back by going around the bottom of Lesotho, which chops a day or so off, and I'd hate to miss something like the proposed ride around the dam...

After many promises and selling my first born   WOW...these places are scared of having bikers! After discussing the idea with the MD of the Resort, we now could possible have our very own Conference Coordinator :evil4: I have manage to wrangle the rates out of ONE of the resorts (Forever Resorts) - I have pasted below the rates and terms for your perusal - this was the more expensive option, but I have yet to hear from Siloam...Hopefully I will hear from them in the new year

PS - Note that the HIGH SEASON rates are hilighted in the attachment - but this does NOT apply to our suggested dates.

IMHO - if you are associated with ThinkBike (as a member or a Forumite), I think you should attend. Why?? Because we're on the same wavelength when it comes to safety and biking :thumbleft: - and we can all learn from each other.

In order to get more Cape Town riders attending (besides UC "wie skrik vir niks"), the venue might have to be shifted further South such as Paarl or Worcester.:badgrin::badgrin:

Agree, the OMB's cannot go that far without several trucks in queue as sweepers.

I am certain you want certain people from the Paarl and JBay to be able to attend as well, don't you?

I have given you the "Forever Lodge Quote" ... now I am offering you the Siloam Quote...and at R600 pp for a WEEKEND (food included) - whatcha say :dontknow:
Thank you for your valued enquiry.

We can assist with the accommodation at this moment since that date is still available.

We do not sell or serve alcohol but they are free to bring their own to the premises accordingly.

The cost per person for the bungalow accommodation will be R70 per person per night and then 3 x meals a day will cost R130 per person.

So If I look at your dates it will be 3 nights and 9 meals per person totaling to R600 per person for the duration.

The price on the meals is based on our standard menu. I can however offer a budget menu @ R90 pp per day.

I'm sure the bike will handle it, my body is a different matter... And I'm sure M would want to go along which automatically turns it into a car thing.

Some of her old neighbours/friends moved to Welkom recently, so might use that as an excuse to go for a visit, but will only be able to confirm closer to the time.

Well, if there are any expenses (badges, whatever), then Think Bikers should also pay something, even if it is only cost? But it may be a fund raising opportunity too.

Hi Almal:salute:

Ek stem ek dink on TB peeps moet mekaar eers leer ken voor ons so groot gaan.
Daar is nie dalk van ons TB peeps wat die South Riot 6 Teen 27 - 29 januarie gaan bywoon in Graaff Reinet nie? dit is ook nogal n geleentheid wat ons kan benut om mekaar te ontmoet en te leer ken.

You clearly do not understand foxterriers. Let me explain.

At a huge dog show one day. Rottie, Staffie and Foxie are waiting outsidde the ring to be judged. Rottie goes in. The two outside her loud applause. Rottie comes out and is asked about his success by the other two

Rottie: "1 Gold, 2 Silvers, Highly Commended"

Staffie enters. Loud and prolonged applause is heard by the two outside. After awhile Staffie comes out. The others enquire about his results.

Staffie: "2 Gold, 1 Silver, Highly Commended"

Foxie goes in. It is pandemoniun inside. Loud noise, shouting, screaming. Geeneral mayhem. Foxie comes out and the other two ask about his visit to the ring.

Foxie: "2 Fights, 1 Sh!t, 2 F"cks, Highly Satisfied!"

To everyone else: Let me know what you would like to do...see...expect from this, I will (try) make it happen :thumbleft: I am excited at the prospect of getting so many bikers together, but out of my depth about what a biker needs/wants (remember, I've only been a biker for a couple months).
I can assure you that the roads there are made for biking (hence my suggestion to hold the first event there), but at the same time, I'd like to know what you would like to take with you from the experience ... Any & ALL input will be greatly appreciated :notworthy:

Will ask Smarty to send out a communication thingy via e-mail.

Bring to the party? Merchandise? Will you be sending a trailer? ;-)

Let's see how this develops before we decide whether it would be worth the costs to cart some merchandise down there. At this stage, let's make it a get together to get to know each other more than a TB "ralley".

All good - cant wait!!! Will be good to be with fellow TB-ers  - Just want a bit of fun for those that make the effort to attend  Tx again Oupa AMZ

My bikes does not have panniers.

Fried badger's noses for snacks.

And sauteed sparrow's nipples.

Frozen tortoise's eyes.

These are a few of my favourite things.

Has there been any planning around what we'll be doing on each day? ...or will it just be a "play it by ear" scenario?

I'm trying to incorporate the Bash into a Sani Pass/Wild Coast trip, but would really only be there from Friday night to Sunday morning.

Bystander asking: "Which bear is the famous TB bear?"
