Or go round the other side. Dive down the R715 to Bethulie, then the 390 to Venterstad

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great time, sorry I could not make this one! I am sure that it was challenging due to the wind and cold. I travelled from Nieu Bethesda and saw many courteous bikers, some with TB vests, heading north from Colesberg.

We were a group of 9 bikers most with TB Bibs going back to Gauteng, left Gariep around 09H00. Travelled on the N1 North and yes we were very courteous as the COB was our Road Captain leading the pack so we had to behave.:salute:

Yes, then it was your group. I was driving friends' silver C200 Merc, and I let the bike convoy pass. Glad they saw the courteous bikers - one of my friends are very keen on getting her bike license (...and then I'll get her to join TB too!)

Maybe hold it in the province where the most representation comes from? :dontknow:
Still too far ahead to plan anything now. Will figure that out closer to the time.
For now just put TB National Bash on the books as a must-do.

I, for one, would be quite happy to use the same venue as this year, now that I am informed of what is required. Would maybe need to pick a different time of year and not the windy month of August.

Thanks Fox, nice pics. Besides, nothing was lost in translation, as cobby is man enough and educated enough to praat engels with me when alone. Those times, I struggled was usually when I got smoked in, which was about 90% of the time in Oviston.

So, for next year's bash, I suggest the following: I challenge the smokers to put in a smoke free day and instead use the money they would have spent on cigarettes, instead on a donation (for TB or TSOR or any other good reason to help others). Now I know that this is impossible as none of them do have the discipline to go without a smoke for a day (!), so let's be realistic, make it a challenge on cutting down for a day to the bare minimum and check, how much more you would have smoked and donate that money on the ciggies you smoke less. On a honesty basis. No need to make this a smoking/non-smoking debate, just a simple challenge.

Any takers?

Took the challenge a long time ago :-) Stubbed out my last cigarette at 7pm 13 October 1999 and never touched another since :-) At two packs of Gauloise Plain a day, I am now saving R1500/month. To convert that to biker terms ... that is enough petrol to ride 3000kms :-)

Well, Dgener8, whilst you where busy entertaining one specific person of the female kind, I was busy cementing my friendships at the laager, ne?

In terms of the challenge, I have to think about it. As a single non-smoker to match the challenge one by one is a touch one-sided. But I put my money where my mouth is, and will start with a R 500.00 offer. Should any smokers get serious about this, we can collect a good amount of money and everybody gets home healthier than under normal circumstances. A win/win situation for all!

So now, whilst I appreciate those guys who have addressed this already, it won't stop me from promoting the idea further, i.e. TB'ers need to attend first of all, and secondly, consider the challenge.
