Think Bike stand like in 2008. Last year I had a lot of support from the Gauteng peeps and I think about 8 people rode down to help me. Accomodation available for those interested in slaving away at the stand

Calling Mallory, Mallory please come in, Hello Mallory:director:
Hehehe sorry, been out of the forum a bit the last week or two. Its 90% sure still on, sitting on the organisers to give me email confirmation that we can get a stand for free

Mallory
18-08-2009, 10:41 AM
Ok peeps, update. Last year we got the TB stand for free, and I hoped that the same would happen this year. The airshow has been taken over by new organisers since last year, so the same status quo does not prevail anymore. The show program has been expanded and improved significantly and is going to be bigger and better than previous years. The stands go for R500 for the Friday and Saturday and unfortunately my negotiations reached a stallmate at R250 for the TB stand. On Friday the local schools get time off to attend the show and I intend taking leave to man the stand. Very important to reach the high school children and spread the TB word to them, an opportunity like this has not come around yet in my area. The people who know me can confirm that I always contribute towards TB whenever I can but this time I am unfortunately not in a position to pay the R250, so I am making a kind request out there for R50 donations x 5 so we can do the TB stand with pride  I have to confirm / cancel the stand by this week Friday and must pay over the money for the stand asap after Friday :?

Linus
18-08-2009, 10:50 AM
I think we should go for it. I have no problem paying to get there and accommodation and contributing my time, but I think the cost of the stand should be a TB contribution. R250 is a relatively insignificant amount and well worth the exposure TB will get.

Ok peeps lets get the show moving. People who indicated earlier on this thread that they may be attending are:

Nutcracker, Knuckles, Da Cat, blackie, Timstap, Jasper, Lycan, Scorpius, Linus

Please indicate if you can assist at the TB stand and put your names down for the "Run" on Sat morning if you are interested. Everyone bring sleeping bags along and I can provide you with a roof over your head, maybe even a bed if you are lucky to get there first :tongue3:

I will post more details on show times, passes etc soon as I receive them. I will ask for a stand close to the entrance again and hopefully we can park the bikes at the stand like last year

We get 2 passes for those working the stand. Admission for everyone else free on Friday (The main program only starts Friday late afternoon). There's a battle of the bands Friday eve that costs R10. Saturday is the main day and admission is R40 per adult, not sure about the kids

A big thanks to Linus, Knuckles and Flossie for your company and helping me and the kids at the TB stand :salute::salute::salute:. I think that more people attended the show this year than in 2008. We handed out alot of stickers and some business cards, sold a bib or 3, some T-shirts and reflective stickers. Good connections were made - from an invitation to do a TB stand at a New Frontier casino event to meeting bikers from all over the country and even Nelspruit. Manning the stand for 2 days was hard work and we were pretty used up by Sat eve, but the good company and usual laughs made it all worthwhile. Thanks guys! I hope next year more people can make it

Sorry, planned on taking lots and lots of plane pics for you  (and maybe a babe or two as an added bonus ), believe me there was a stunning variety (the planes of course :-p), but had a tough time raising bike awareness and running after kids with the amusement park being immediately behind the TB stand, believe me that was hard work

It's never easy... and with kids running around I have no doubt it must be plenty busy

No worries, I'll get my own pics next time

Good job Mallory :thumbleft: Your dedication and efforts are incredible :headbang:
