Harley rider died in head-on collision on Hekpoort road (think that is what it’s called) anyway en route to Magallies/Hekpoort just passed Marapeng and Hartbeeshoek (satellite) roads. Rider’s name unknown to us.

According to one of the riders in the group which bike was also clipped by the same vehicle, the cage driver was swerving erratic across the road, first clipping the lead bike in the bike’s lane after which hitting the Harley also in the bike’s lane.

Both the driver and the rider died on the scene.

Saw a few Think Bikers (Nelion and Enduro) came past as well but at that time emergency personnel were already present.

Really sad. Believe he is leaving – amongst others - his wife and 2 kids. Condolences to the family

Yup - Saw the accident as we came down the road and stopped to ask what bike as we had seen MadNohb etc pass us earlier ;-( Heard it was a Harley and knew it wasn't one of us luckily ...... really sad when this happens cos I am sure every cage driver thought it was the bikers fault! RIP brother - what a waste..... a very sobering ride home after that.

Hi all

The unfortunate thing is the the driver of the vehicle was drunk. I interviewed the one survivng passenger who was quick to point out he was hitch hiking when the driver picked him up. The driver and front passenger was drunk and travelling down hekpoort at speed. From what I saw what was left of the car was that it was also not in the best of condition. This was entirely the car drivers fault. The Metro were out in force yesterday in Fourways pulling over bikers for petty offences. If they were so vigilant and passionate at pulling over dangerous cars and drivers as they are us then this might not have happened.

I feel the lesson to learn is that no matter where you are riding and at what time ANYTHING can happen. BE PREPARED!!!!!!!!
