I remember a photograph of Bucc with our makeshift konstabel abel hat etc. at our last big party at Enduro's place. He was standing right next to Blackie. The pic got taken when they were handed their certificates.

It really is a classic photo. Can the person who has that please post that? It's my favourite one of Bucc.

Although I never knew you please know that your wonderful memory will live on in this world through your friends and the legacy that you leave behind. It is very seldom that one can say of a person that they have been a truly good human being and that they did something for their fellow man, what I heard today from a very sad Ramona tells me of a man that truly cared for those around him. I am sure you know that the people you leave behind, especially your loved ones will always be remembered in our prayers and in our thoughts. Rest in Peace, and I know that you are welcomed in your new home where there is no pain and no suffering. Thank you for being part of the human race, and thank you for leaving a true legacy behind.

If Tears Could Build a Stairway

If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again.

No Farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret ears still flow
What it meant to lose you no one will ever know

But we know you want us to mourn for you no more
To remember all the ahppy time life still has much in store

Since you'll never be forgotten, we pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts is where you'll always stay

Bucc - your memory lives on!

Flipit! Bucc I'm going to miss sending them news letters to you!!! The thing that struck me about Bucc was that he always greeted you like a long lost friend, with honesty and open heart. We probably only chatted about 6 times one-to-one in the time I've been with TB, but I feel like I've lost a great friend. RIP dude.

I dont remember him with pics, theyre all in my heart. When no one stood by me, Brian did. When everyone had forgotten about me, Brian remembered me. When i was ashamed to even know myself, Brian was proud of me. And i will miss my dear dear friend, but i know he is with me, his pony flying in the wind, his spike glimmering in the sun, his hand still holding mine.

I hope you guys don't mind if I put this here. Everyone that has lost someone dear to them can take comfort in knowing that one day, we'll all meet again.

One day

As I lay him down to rest, I feel this pain inside my chest.
He gave me life I am his flesh, a fate like this I would not guess.
He helped me when I needed him so, caring for me & watching me grow.
I?ll miss him until we meet again, I?ll hug & cry there is no shame.

As I lay her down to rest, holding back tears I do my best.
She?s my strength my day & night, my mind, my heart, my perfect light.
Edge me on & draw me near, no way to stop destiny?s spear.
I?ll miss her until we meet again, I?ll hug & cry there is no shame.

I?ll see you One day,
Until we meet again.
I?ll see you One day
& there will be no pain.

As they lay me down to rest, together again I am my best.
We walk & talk, we spend our time, with each other, this is divine.
I tell you about my lonely stay but you were with me through living day.
I hug & cry & tell you so, never again will one of us go!

Hi Mike

From all members and friends of VOG - Thank you for informing us of the tragic occurrence that led to the extremely sad passing of Brain Cannoo. Although many of us may not have known him personally, his name was not unfamiliar to us by virtue the great work he rendered through Think Bike, which organisation has done so much for the biking fraternity in South Africa.

Please convey our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to his family, his colleagues and friends, on behalf of VOG, who themselves are grateful beneficiaries of the great work he performed.

We pray for those left behind, that the love of God which passes all understanding shall strengthen them and abide with them through the period of acceptance of Brian?s passing. May his soul enter into the presence of God?s eternal pleasure.

Warm regards

Dave

Ek weet nie wat om te s? nie. Ek is genuine stom geslaan.

. . its just lfe happening. Dit klink nou maybe baie koud van my kant af, maar ek bedoel dit glad nie lelik nie.

Blackie, Da Cat - sterkte maatjies, ek weet julle 3 was baie groot maats gewees. As daar enige iets is wat ek kan doen om te help met enige iets, ek is net 'n foon oproep weg. Bel gerus.

Aan Bucc se vroutjie en sy kinders - sterkte julle!!!!! Ek weet waardeur Bucc se kiddies gaan - my dad is dood toe ek 8 was. Dis nie lekker nie. Sterkte vir daai kinders!!!! Weereens, as ek kan help met ENIGE IETS, bel asb!!!

Bucc - I did not know you as well as some of the others, but I knew you well enough know I will miss the odd occasion where we would meet at Pinehaven while waiting for other bikers to go do a brekky. God speed Mr. Cannoo!!!!! You are missed and will be for a long time to come!!!! Until we meet again!!!

I was a member of BASA for a couple of months after I got my bird
One Sunday on a breakfast run I met to TB guy's I still can't remember who they were but they were wearing TB bibs so I asked them what that was all about

The gave me a bit of info on Tb and as soon as I got home I was checking the site outNeedless to say a week later I was a paid TB member.

The first things I checked was the runs and get togethers.I saw that the peeps meet on a Friday at Kopdood so I asked where Kopdood was and somebody put it on the tread and the next Friday I was on my way to my first Kopdood

Got to kopdood and got some coffee and started talking to some of the guy's and a conversation between Knucles and I started I wanted to know so much I don't know how he answered all my questions

And the big question came up "tell me who is who in the TB zoo"

He showed me around and he said that is BUCC he is the big KAHOONA
I looked past BUCC because I was loking for this suit and tie guy I asked him where and he pointed at BUCC again

There was this guy with the sandpaper features and that howzit my china look busy roling a Rizla well I was blown away
Could this be the KAHOONA of TB

I walked over to him and was blown away again because here was this heavy looking biker with his pony tail and a Rizla in the corner of his mouth but the minute he spoke I wanted to jump at attention the way he spoke demanded your respect maby it's the respect he gave that gave me that feeling

I started peppering him with questions and instead of telling me to look at the site(which is what I would have done)where I would have found most of what I wanted to know he stood there and patiently answered all my nosey questions

Then I made the mistake of asking him who does TB belong to
He protested heavily and told me TB belongs to the members
Needless to say I felt like a donkey's behind

After that I had a couple of times that I was with Brian Cannoo the man they called THE BUCCANEER and now reading through the condolences that people leave for Bucc saying "I never met Bucc" I realise what a priviledge and honour I had to have met him and to have ridden with him I am just so sorry that I wasn't given more time with him

But that is not my decision and I except that and cherish the little bit I had

THANK YOU BUCC

Bucc though I have only met you a few times, you have filled me with awe with the passion you had for the safety of bikers. Going through these pics made tears well up in my eyes. You will forever be in our hearts and we all at think bike will remember you. Hereby a pledge that we will do all in our power to continue the work.

I never met Bucc, but he did make a difference in my life, and still does:

every time a car moves over to give me a gap, every time someone sees my yellow bib that otherwise wouldn't, Bucc and TB had something do with that. How do you say thanks for that? Well, I don't have a clue how. But one of my on-line buddies in England does, this is what he had to say. I'll just post it as is, it says it many times better than I ever could:

"toast his memory and achievements Alan, as I've come to realize over the last week, he will never die until all he touched also dies"

I had the good fortune of meeting bucc three times, at first i was intimidated by this rough seeming man(still new to biking and subscribed to that whole assumed thought of rough okes with sever attitude problems, not true) , this weekend past i joined THE BUCC at a track day and embarked on my first BUCC MEMORY, i will always remember him wandering around and smiling and how everyone lit up when he was around them. I will always see him as he was that day and i thank whomever is responsible that i got that one time to know the man and the legend.

After spending half an hour chatting to him i walked to my mother and said to her, "that even after such a short time i can see why you all adore him."

Thinking of all you who knew him well and what you must be going through, especialy those closest to him, Fran, Kids, Blackie my heart goes out to what you must be experiencing.

Bucc new travels are ahead and i know that you are busy making those around you smile again. Ride high and far our lost father.

Bucc's legacy will continue for as long as we all can ride.

This is something i wrote, its what i believe

Long and winding the roads they ride, difficult twists, seldom wide
far and long and true they ride with perpetual risk always at their side
but none will ride the roads with Bucc again our now departed friend

Deeds unmatched this man has done, created safety for all of us
a life was taken where thousands saved, Bucc it?s said loved all of us
Ride in peace our fated friend for new roads lie far ahead

All the world over bikers mourn, for this man our legend father has moved on
But somewhere out there Bucc?s tyres are warm, riding the new plains and roads, but not alone

All our brothers? sisters fallen dear,
now ride high with the Buccaneer

One day my time will draw near and when it comes my smile will grow

This is a time when people need each other
his family is left behind with memories to cover.
We pray that they will accept this loss,
and kneel down to pray at the cross.

Our hearts go out in severe pain,
as the doctors efforts was in vain.
My God help those who are left behind,
cause they are still precious, one of a kind.

Lets stand together like we always do,
and bring our condolences to a fallen bru.
Some might not know him but a link is there,
when u own a bike there must be time to spare.

We are crying with his family wife and kids,
for this loss came when not expecting this.
He is looking down from skies above,
wanting you to remember his love.

Good bye dear biker friend
you will be missed till the very end!!!

Motoring Supplement
Think Bike chairman dies
February 21, 2008 Edition 1

Motoring Staff

It is with great sadness and unfortunate irony that we report that Brian Cannoo, chairperson for the Think Bike safety awareness campaign for motorcyclists, has passed away due to injuries sustained in a road accident on Saturday 16 February.

Cannoo was part of a group of Think Bike members attending a track day at the Phakisa racetrack in the Free State Goldfields. After the track day, he and three other motorcyclists rode to Welkom to have something to eat.

Not far from the racetrack, a bus made an illegal U-turn in front of Cannoo, who was riding in front.

Brian Cannoo was one of the founding members of the revived Think Bike campaign in 2006 and he had served as the chairperson since then. He was instrumental in settling the term ATGATT (all the gear, all the time) in our minds. His belief that you could never have enough rider-training is shared by the campaign and its members.

The members of Think Bike, and the biking community have lost a brother, a leader and a precious friend. Brian Cannoo, known by Think Bike members and the motorcycling community at large as "Buccaneer", is survived by his wife Fran, daughter Nicole and son Michael.

Although i didnt know Bucc my depeest condolences to his family. May he ride the highways of heaven.

Another Biker Has Gone Down

I'm sorry friends that I can't be with you to celebrate today

If you're all gathered round and reading this, I've probably passed away

but if I were there I'd tell you not to shed a tear or frown

I'd tell you just to simply say, another Biker has gone down.

If I were there I'd tell you that I had a wonderful life,

That I loved my kids and family and especially my wife.

I loved all my drinking buddies and all my life-long friends

I'd raise a toast to all of you, "May your party never end."

If I were there I'd tell you how I loved the the small blue highways

How I loved the curving mountain roads, loved to ride the back-road byways.

And how I loved it "in the wind", loved it when that engine rumbled,

and the biker friends who rode with me and would help me when I stumbled.

You are amongst my dearest friends, brothers and sisters of the road,

We've traveled many miles together, shared many heavy loads.

If I could be there, we'd laugh and share the memories from our past,

and this gathering would be just one more tale, another story, not our last.

But today I can't be with you, except in your hearts and memory stores

So you'll have to laugh, lift a glass to me, then let your engines roar.

Please smile and do not shed a tear, wipe away that silly frown.

I'm off upon that final ride, another Biker who has gone down.

Blackie, that is an absolutely awesome poem... although is says we shouldn't shed a tear, it brought tears to my eyes - but i can imagine Bucc saying:

If I were there I'd tell you that I had a wonderful life,

That I loved my kids and family and especially my wife.

I loved all my drinking buddies and all my life-long friends

I'd raise a toast to all of you, "May your party never end."

I have had the pleasure of meeting Bucc, although not enough.

I am in total awe of the legacy he has left behind. The campaign he revived, the friends he made, the company he kept, the time he spent and the never ending dedication to his friends, family and the campaign assures him a place in every person's heart, on two wheels and in four because what was created is unmistakeable and cannot be ignored.

His legacy will continue and the biggest tribute we all could give is by keeping up the good work.

To his family and friends I will keep you in my thoughts throughout this difficult time. May Bucc's strenght and yours carry you through.

I"ve met Bucc only 3 times and dealt with him on mail for the radio ads. That was all. But the footprint he left in my heart for the 'cause' was huge.

I cannot remember when last I battled to 'deal' with someones passing as much as I've been trying to with this 'great spirit' called Bucc.

Last night sitting on the beach I decided to have a conversation with him. Afterwards I smiled because the 'clear' message I walked away with was that HIS Spirit will live through each and every one who crossed his path. It is with the Spirit of Bucc that I will continue to be part of the 'cause' and it is with his spirit that I will draw strength.

May his footprint and spirit live in all our hearts.

;)

A friend of mine form California in USA sent me this poem after she read about Bucc. I think what this poem is trying to say - is that Bucc MADE A DIFFERENCE !! He gave heart and soul to make the public aware of BIKERS - to THINKBIKE.

Road Not Taken, The
by Robert Lee Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
