Okay, so it was really cool to see all the bikes out on Sunday for the toy run. I was very jealous.

Except of one muppet I saw on a green Kawasaki. Him on the front, in a helmet, wife or girlfriend on the back, in a helmet. And a daughter, who must have been 10 years old if that, wedged between them. No helmet, no protective gear whatsoever.

Seriously, dudes, wtf?

Seen that before many times on the Toy. All I can say is : Darwin Theory.

I did not take part in the Toy Run but I was there taking pictures. I would say that less than half of the riders were dressed in ATGATT.

I hardly looked at the bikes - I was too distracted by the lack of proper gear worn. It was very hot on Cape Town on Sunday so a lot of people were riding in t-shirts and shorts. Some pillions in very strappy tops (like Scorp's pic). One guy even had his button up shirt un-buttoned! There were very young pillions with only a helmet on. I actually saw a few people without helmets on (one person was holding the helmet in their hand!). Then there were the kids - on little bikes with only a helmet on and no clue on how to ride on the road with so many bikers .... and when I say little, I mean under 10 years old! There was even a family of 3 on a scooter with kiddy wedged in the middle with no helmet!

It actually made me very sad because although Think Bike is doing a fantastic job, there is still so much more to do and you can talk to some people until you are blue in the face but if they want to ride wearing little to no gear, they are going to and sadly they will learn the hard way. :( And you want to say: Don't stress about the things you have no control over but why should the children suffer in the accident because their parents are being stupid!

I took a lot of pics of all the BAD bikers - I'll get SRXy to post some when he gets a chance.

a point for all to ponder.
compare the amount of DS riders which would include motard riders wearing ATGATT to the amount of super bike riders who wear ATGATT  :!: :!:

while riding on the toy un I was wondering if I can get stats as to how many bike accidents involve sports bikes compared to D/S bikes

And did you guys see the fools on their quads? When I left, there were a few of them riding amongst the bikes on the road, doing wheelies and at the same time weaving through the traffic. They can handle their quads well, but the way they do it in the traffic is just not on. I was in my cage, as I am still recuperating after my accident, but I think it is insane to "terrorize" other road users in this way.

I`m with you bro, which is why the majority of rallies do not allow quads, because of a#sholes like these!!!

We had the Toyrun post mortem meeting on Monday, and one recurring theme was all the *** caused by the quads.

I'd be very surprised to see quads at next year's event.

They have Four wheels! Not Toy Run candidates imho. :-)
We have endless hassles with them at our MX Track... not wanting to ATGATT and speeding on the acess roads... damn the list would take hours to type!
