So myself and SVS were riding back from our exotic breakfast in Parys after saying goodbye to Pype, Motek and Anton in Krugersdorp, and decided to take an alternative route back to Randburg. Cruising on Paul Kruger road in front of Eagle Canyon, a Bakkie decides it was a good time to stop in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. SVS was committed to the corner already, following the car in front of him, when the sudden sight of brake lights made him pull on the levers as well. Grunt thought this was a grand idea to stand upright, instead of staying in the corner, and took SVS into the oncoming lane and into a brand new Peugeot 207. Luckily the lady driver was a sharp one, and pointed her car into the pavement and Grunt and SVS bounced of the driver side of the Pug.

Luckily no one was seriously hurt, but SVS does have a broken ego and a lot of broken pride. Grunt on the other hand came off a lot less fortunate, and spent the night in a strange unknown location.

Here are some pics...

Hi all....
Today Im felling a bit sore still but I will be ok....

It was a freak accident.
I had nowhere to go but wide into the oncoming lane...
Unfortunatly the was an oncoming car in the form of a Pug 207...

The lady driver mounted the pavement and possibly saved my life.
So instead of a head on smash I side swiped her...

I am busy with the insurance and I will keep you guys all in the loop...
Thanx for all the well wishes...

Sorry to hear about that Shaun. I hope you don't have to wait like last time with the SV.

The best news though is that you were not injured, bikes are easy to fix in comparison with bones etc.

Let me know if you need anything bud.

I know at this point this doesnt mean much, but dude, I am glad you are okay. It could have ended to serious injury or worse to you.

The lady certainly kept her head and reacted "perfectly"in the situation.

Grunt was doing so well on Sunday, I hope she is repairable. I was really getting used to seeing her in my rearview mirror - a comforting site.

Vasbyt mate. If there is anything I can do...... gimme a shout.

The bakkie just left... Of course did nothing wrong! Even mounted the pavement to get around Grunt lying in front of it...

Is it not a good idea to send this kind lady a letter thanking her for saving the life of one of our members, as well as a hamper with a cap, T-Shirt, stickers etc?

Make her the first official recipient of our famed "Bikers Friend" award, that I just thought up. (Because she clearly did "Think Bike" in the situation) With newspaper reports etc.
