    Default MRA Phakisa 8 Hour - 2017/07/01

So... I put doing an endurance race on my bucket list last year... this year I got asked if I'd be keen on joining a team.
Today I paid my entry fees and that stuff.

    It's on like donkey kong!

Now... let me get my drill so I can safety wire up the calipers and other needed bolts. hehe.

Is anyone else on the forum going to be taking part in the 8 hour?

I will one day in the future do an 8 hour and a 24 hour. Endurance racing intrigues me way more than "normal" racing.

Suzuka 8 hour, Bike SA 24 hour, Le Mans 24 hour, the 9 hour that used to happen at Kyalami, etc, does not matter if it is cars or bikes. They all have that something special that not even MotoGP or WSBK can beat.

    congrats Warren!

What are the conditions for this race? How many riders? One bike? What time period for riding?

    Thanks

It's an endurance race run by MRA, much the same as the 24 hour.

We're taking part in the MRA GP category
    The breakout times are: A - 1:44, B - 1:50, C - 1:55, D - 2:00

It's 4 riders per team and I believe we are each using our own bikes.
    30 min sessions per rider.

Total time 8 hours (480 mins)
Total time per rider 2 hours (120 mins)
Total sessions per rider is 4.

My current PB around Phakisa is 2:00... I'll be riding in the D class for our team.
I'll have to make sure not to hook in behind anyone faster and accidentally break out.

    Seriously looking forward to it!

That's what I said last year
Just keep going to the track and working on your skills and you will improve... you've already got the stones for pushing the limits.
Just gotta work on increasing the limits more gradually

The race has past... it was EPIC! I'll throw together some photos and footage and put a thread up during this week... hopefully.

Since Wpigeon has forgotten this already,

I tagged as pit hands, not the most amazing job being a pit Appie but it really makes the riders race better and you see that in the times, just some one too do ship for them while they stress the race, remember racing is a super stress on the mind and body that if I had to explain you'll never understand till you try it, and this is coming from a guy who has only done a few track days, but once you start pushing you feel the strain and it effects everything, it's not just open throttle and turn a few corners, riding or in this case racing a bike around a track is a big deal, and these guys raced for 6 hours

What an experience, a real must for any one who loves bike!
