The choice is always a difficult one. Some pointers:

    - Sudden acceleration and excessive speed: You are in control of the throttle. You know whether you can be trusted with it.Yes, which is why I'm reluctant to put myself in a situation where I'm tempted to open up, or be in a bad position when I "skrik"

With all due respect, if you cannot control yourself, a 125 can and will kill you. You need to be in total control. If you cannot be, stay off a bike.
    - Light and maneuverable: This depends so much on experience, I don't see this as a major factor. The Honda NC is a heavy bugger, yet, none of its owners ever complain that it is not light and nimble. Mhmmm... Didn't realise it's such a heavy horse...

Weighs the same as a BMW R1200GS! This is not an issue though.

From what I am hearing you say, the Honda NC is possibly the bike for you. I see one nearby from a Honda dealer: 2014 NC750X 5500km R 69 900 (a little more than I'd prefer), but it does seem very low cost for such low km. Thoughts?

They were pretty competitively priced back then, so the price sounds about right. Just a thought. Is this a 750? Not a 700? Were the 750 already available in 2014?

Service Plans: As far as I am aware no one does bikes. I may be wrong.

I am fully prepared of the risks involved with a bike, but when it comes to safety I feel it's better to err on the side of caution.

I think it is a NC700 and not NC750, but the listing says 750. Merits a visit, methinks.

It could be a 750. Seems they came out during 2014. Either way, I agree that it is worth a visit.

My first NC was a 750, bought in February 2014

So, as it is typically of me, I'm here for a bit, then I'm gone for a bit, then I'm here for a bit...

    Quick update:

November 2017 I lost my job. I was just about to buy ATGATT for the near future NC purchase... So now I have no job, no bike, no hope... Kidding. I took the bull by it's cojones and started my own company. Bike plans postponed as I need my reserves to fund a couple of months without income.

December 2017 my family came to visit for the Christmas holidays. My sister had a 125cc Bajaj Pulsar with 4k km on it. They brought it along, and left it here, since she transitioned to a cage earlier in 2017.

January 2018 I am getting some road time, but I'm avoiding traffic as much as I possibly can. I don't have ATGATT. When I do ride, I always wear at least trousers and decent shoes. For longer distances I have to take the cage. Reading up and watching lots of training vids, as the rider training is quite far from me (anyone know of something happening close to East Rand in the near future?) SWAMBO accepted biking is now a thing

    Going forward:
    Rider training
    ATGATT
    Gain more experience and training
Get license (only on learners now)
Make loads of cash in business
Buy BMW, HD, Yamakawazukihonda and eventually lots of shares in Cayenne and Red Star
    Spend more time on tracks
    Become world's best biker!!
Ride so you can ride again tomorrow.

Strongs on the job but great stuff and all the best with the company
Been reading through the thread and just realized it's from way back

I'm recently back on TB after a long break and also looking to get on a bike again, interestingly the NC is looking more and more like the way to go.

Yeah, I try to keep all my stories and posts limited to one thread. That way I don't spam the forum... Lots of questions quite often. Thanks for the well wishes.

Anyway, welcome back! A second-hand NC700 is at the top of my list of bikes to purchase, but I do admit that the baby GS also has my attention. Unfortunately that is a little postponed for the time being. But I'll get there. For now I'm just enjoying racking up the metres and get it to become kilometres on the Pulsar. You won't regret the NC.

Scratch what I said about ATGATT... I now have a jacket and boots. 50% ATGATT sorted.

    So, going forward:
Gain experience (Probably through rider training)
    Rest of ATGATT
    Gain more experience and training
Get license (only on learners now)
