I just picked up on this thread.
Lucyfer, I've got a 695 with aftermarket pipes and love it to pieces. It won't keep up with 600 superbikes, but who wants to go fast in a straight? I've had mine on the track and taken it out on longs rides and could not be happier. PM me for more info.
Ducati Addict, speak to Marco Casiani from Race Store in Kyalami. They also import Marchicini rims and other aftermarket Italian stuff. I got my pipes and damper from him. They also do very nice Dainese apparel.....

Nah! I agree - not buying a bike to "race" others....but it now turns out the "mileage" which i enquired about is in fact in miles and not km's as originally told on two occassions....which makes this 620 a little over-priced
Also was a little worried about my knee with the Cafe type rider style of the monster ....So I am still hunting for the "perfect" bike...but damn that monster is one hot machine...got an amazing v-twin sound too which is another part of it i really really really really fell in love with

kay guys i have 2retract this whole thread.. it would appear that the rim dod in fact NOT break off.. it would appear that the wheel was not properly fastened when my rear brakes were replaced. so when the wheel came out, the little metal thingys protruding from the axle that go in2 the rim to rotate it actually grinded the wheel and corroded it right before they broke off and that is when the wheel came out. the wheel is very slightly damaged and hi tech mag repairs quoted the rim repair at R1400.. a bit pricey considering how very very little the damage 2 the rim was. but considering that they have to respray i guess its okay. now the problem is that those little metal pins broke off the axle.. these pins look like they can be unscrewed from the axle, but where can i get replacement pins? or should i just get an engineering company 2 make them?

Why not go after the pins at your local Ducati dealership and then get the guys who did the brakes for you to pay for it because it was, after all, their workmanship that caused the problem. Unless you did the work yourself, in which case...you're a bit farked to the tune of R1400 + the cost of the pins.
Also, could you not get the pins from breakers?

Zoki Tech is the ONLY ducati Service centre in GAUTENG. Ducati themselves do not do the service. So i doubt that I will get them from a dealership, don't you think? correct me if i'm wrong coz i could be, but according to the ducati.co.za website zoki tech is the service centre for ducati in gauteng... Nd wt is breakers?

Also only picked up on this thread now...

AGREE!! Glad you're getting it sorted.Glad it did not turn out worse!
I love my 'single sided swing arm' 1050 Speed Triple.
My previous '04 model 955i Speed Triple used to "twist" the single sided S/A under very hard throttling!
Apparantly it looked 'very cool' from behind, said the okes that could keep up...
Hope all works out for you...

Breakers... -------> Scrapyards. What I meant was to get the pin from the official Ducati dealers/service centers. I'd be surprised if they could'nt get you the stuff coz they need to keep stuff like that is stock for servicing and things like this! If they can't even order you one in then they are SH!T!

Hahahahahahaha! That really brightened my day

The stealerships in good 'ol SA keep very few parts available, especially for the older models such as the 748, 996, 998 etc.
They are only interested in selling new bikes (at waaaay over-inflated prices) and then providing pretty shoddy after sales service once the deal has been done.

ish guys u dnt understand.. Iv been outa axion for close to 4 months now. Toro sprockets said that they could make the pins for me but they are DRAGGING their feet. giving one excuse after the other. I JUST WANA RIDE. im starting 2 climb da walls nw im tired of dis cage. Im giving dem till endo d mionth. Ive dealt with alistair before. let me drop him an email nd hear what he says. after i get the pins i have to take them to hi tech mag repairs so they can use them to measure the holes they need to drill into the rim after rewelding it. so basically im screwed. im only gonna ride sumtym in may or june or sum kark like dt.. since LAST BLOODY YEAR!!!!!!!!
I always wondered what the swingarm on the right hand side of most bikes is for. Mine dont have one...
what a waste of material

Zoki Tech is NOT the only people who service Ducatis in JHB. Edenvale and Sandton also service Dukes. I had mine there just the other day for its service. Zoki Teck is ONLY a service agent and doesn't sell new bikes.

I suggest you talk to Mark at Ducati Sandton for the parts you need.
